Service - Advocacy - Community

We've been busy!

It's taken a labor of love and many sleeplessness nights to create this platform and to navigate the evolving social climate in our years as a website project, a nonprofit organization, and service effort.

Take a look at what we've accomplished over the years while working to implement the Mission and Vision of I THRIVE across the communities and organizations we have served.

  • Completed the one month Awakening and Healing program at Samma Karuna Awakening and Healing program in Koh Phangan, Thailand September 2015, becoming a member of their healing community and solidifying I THRIVE's purpose in expanding access to eastern wisdom to survivors of trauma around the globe.

  • Mediated with the SLCPD and Wendy Isom, director of the SLCPD victim's advocacy program as well as local district attorney Sandy Johnson JD to explore and resolve an incidence of mishandling of the SLC sex assault case that originally inspired I THRIVE's grass roots efforts to change rape litigation and support sex assault survivors and survivors of trauma in Utah and beyond.

OUR YEARS AS A 501c3 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION:

Ultimately, we revised our plans to host an ACT based healing for survivors on the island. Instead this month was spent performing advocacy and outreach to various healers at the school and with survivors of trauma pursuing healing and training at various workshops on the island.

  • Coordinated the distribution of application information to attend the United Nations 68th Annual Civil Society Conference where I THRIVE's mentor Dr. Omar Reda was speaking in SLC, UT August 2019 for members of the University of Utah Adult Psychiatry Residency Global Mental Health Track.

2020:

  • I THRIVE's creator completed a 300-hour yoga teacher training, completing her 500 hr RYT in Goa, India January 2020 where she gained valuable certifications to assist survivors and networked with healers, yogis, and survivors of trauma from around the globe. I THRIVE contributed to learning activities at the training through advocacy services, leading guided meditations, and experiential activities early in the course. I THRIVE later had the unique opportunity to provide consultant feedback after witnessing the reactivation of trauma within the group post a deviation in trauma informed care. This experience dramatically broadened I THRIVE's understanding of the complicated psychodynamics involved in supporting survivors of trauma in group settings, the risks of working with survivors outside of formally structured settings and protocols, and led to significant changes in our survivor outreach action plan.

  • I THRIVE spent 6 months studying the psychedelic sciences from a multidisciplinary approach including exposure to psychedelic assisted therapies and their applications to traumatized populations as taught by some of the most respected names in the psychedelic sciences. Coursework and exposures were utilized to develop I THRIVE's new action plan of service, advocacy, and activism for the next 3 years of operation.

  • I THRIVE spent 6 months participating in pre-requisite coursework and group meetings, obtaining access to an additional 6 month's of curriculum on human sexuality and relationship coaching to support survivors of trauma seeking to heal these intimate areas of their lives post sex assault and trauma. Skills gained in early-bird coursework were utilized to support the survivors of trauma I THRIVE encountered over its remaining years of service as a nonprofit entity.
