Grounding techniques in psychotherapy are coping strategies used to help individuals stay mentally and emotionally present in the here and now. By anchoring oneself in the present moment, grounding techniques can provide a sense of stability, safety, and control, ultimately promoting emotional regulation and reducing distress.
