The Art of Humanity
Our Work & Projects

Every individual is a unique piece of art, molded by their experiences, backgrounds, and ancestries. Together, we form a rich tapestry that reflects the essence of humanity. At I Thrive, we honor and heal this collective experience through initiatives like the Kintsukuroi Project, the Looking Glass Project, advocacy, healing interventions, and activism. Each of these projects and initiatives serve as their own artistic endeavor designed to spark reflection, healing, and transformation.

At I THRIVE, we have transformed our personal experiences of harm and healing into a comprehensive model for regulating psychedelic medicine providers. Inspired by the challenges we faced, we created a framework that prioritizes safety, ethical practices, and accountability to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure responsible, transparent practices in the rapidly evolving field of psychedelic-assisted therapies. By addressing systemic failures, we aim to foster a culture of trust and integrity, ensuring that the promise of psychedelic medicine is realized without compromising the dignity and safety of its participants.

Key Aspects of Our Regulatory Model

    •    Safety as a Foundational Principle:
   •    Our framework emphasizes trauma-informed care, clear boundaries, and robust safety protocols to protect clients, particularly those with a history of trauma.
   •    Establishing Ethical Standards:
   •    Proposed universal guidelines for psychedelic practitioners, including informed consent, maintaining professional boundaries, and respecting client autonomy.
   •    Advocated for the mandatory reporting of misconduct to ensure accountability and prevent harm.
   •    Training and Certification Requirements:
   •    Developed tiered certifications based on practitioner experience and training in psychedelic pharmacology, trauma-informed care, and ethical practices.
   •    Called for hands-on, supervised training to prepare providers for the unique challenges of psychedelic-assisted therapy.
   •    Independent Oversight and Monitoring:
   •    Recommended regular audits and independent reviews of psychedelic therapy centers and institutions to ensure compliance with safety and ethical standards.
   •    Advocated for accessible, secure reporting mechanisms for survivors to report misconduct without fear of retaliation.
   •    Global Accountability and Transparency:
   •    Proposed an international regulatory body to oversee the field, inspired by the structure of the Tantra Federation, to set ethical benchmarks and prevent harm on a global scale.
   •    Suggested mechanisms for ongoing evaluation and adaptation of standards as the field evolves.
   •    Empowering Survivors and Communities:
   •    Designed a survivor-centered approach, ensuring that those who have experienced harm have access to support services, including trauma counseling and legal assistance.
   •    Engaged in educational campaigns to raise awareness of ethical concerns and safety practices in psychedelic science.

By alchemizing our experiences into this regulatory framework, we aim to ensure that the psychedelic medicine renaissance fulfills its potential for healing without perpetuating harm. This model serves as a blueprint for accountability and safety, empowering practitioners, institutions, and survivors to build a field rooted in integrity, transparency, and compassion. Through these efforts, I THRIVE is working to protect vulnerable individuals and establish a foundation for ethical and effective psychedelic-assisted therapies.

At I THRIVE, we invite individuals, organizations, and communities to join us in taking this pledge, standing together to protect the vulnerable, promote peace, and inspire transformative change. By working collectively, we can ensure that healing spaces are not only safe but also empowering, compassionate, and inclusive for all.

08

The art of humanity lies in its ability to navigate the interplay of shadow and light—transforming pain into purpose, harm into healing, and silence into meaningful action. At I THRIVE, we explore this dynamic through advocacy, art, and activism, revealing both the resilience of the human spirit and the challenges we face as a society. Our work, from nonviolent resistance to narrative healing, shines a light on systemic failures while inspiring hope and change. Initiatives like the Kintsukuroi Project and the Looking Glass Project celebrate resilience and post-traumatic growth while offering powerful social commentary on issues such as rape culture, institutional complicity, and the need for systemic reform. By using art and storytelling to challenge harmful practices and amplify survivor voices, we create space for reflection, accountability, and transformation, fostering a culture rooted in safety, compassion, and ethical responsibility.

The art of humanity is also reflected in our ability to turn personal and collective experiences into catalysts for change. By addressing systemic failures in psychedelic medicine, mental health practices, and university policies, we emphasize the potential for growth and justice. The Pledge for Peace and Safety calls on individuals and institutions to commit to dignity, accountability, and the well-being of all participants, promoting safety as a shared value. Our narrative healing efforts empower survivors to reclaim their stories, move beyond the label of “survivor,” and embrace their identities with strength and purpose. Through these initiatives, we illuminate a path toward a more inclusive and ethical future, demonstrating that by addressing both our shadows and our light, we can foster healing, connection, and lasting positive change.

Looking ahead, I THRIVE will continue our service efforts, art therapy initiatives, and innovative interventions designed to support healing and growth. We continue to build our work and projects to integrate creative expression and therapeutic practices, offering accessible tools for individuals and communities to process trauma and rediscover their strength. Future initiatives will focus on expanded advocacy efforts to reach broader audiences and inspire systemic change. As we continue to grow, we remain dedicated to empowering survivors, challenging harmful systems, and advancing the transformative potential of art, advocacy, and service to create a more compassionate and just world.

How Art Heals

Art has long been recognized as a powerful tool for healing, offering a means to express emotions, process trauma, and foster self-discovery. Research supports the therapeutic benefits of art; studies show that engaging in artistic activities can reduce stress, lower cortisol levels, and improve overall mental health by activating the brain’s reward and pleasure pathways. Art therapy, in particular, has been proven effective in treating conditions like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, providing a non-verbal outlet for emotions that are difficult to articulate. Incorporating art into your daily life can be as simple as keeping a journal for doodling or free writing, creating a vision board, or taking a few minutes to sketch or paint mindfully. Structured practices like guided art therapy sessions or online art workshops can deepen the healing process, while community-based art projects foster connection and a sense of belonging. Whether through painting, crafting, or simply enjoying the creative process, art can become a daily ritual for emotional release, self-expression, and resilience building.

“At the deepest level, the creative process and the healing process arise from a single source. When you are an artist, you are a healer; a wordless trust of the same mystery is the foundation of your work and its integrity.”
