In Japan, Kintsukuroi is the art of repairing pottery with gold lacquer and recognizing that the piece is more beautiful for having once been broken.

The Kintsukuroi Project invites primary and secondary survivors of sexual violence to wear gold masks to demonstrate the ways they're repaired themselves with gold through the sharing of their personal narratives and what gives them meaning in their recoveries.

Survivors will be pictured or will submit a picture of themselves in a gold mask as well as a written submission if they choose. Alternatively, survivors can provide brief video submissions (full guidelines pending).
